The Team

Ali Al Assaad

Senior Legal Consultant/Legal Manager

Ali is the Firm’s Arabic-speaking Senior Legal Consultant and Legal Manager.  A talented professional and a unique individual, Ali has won many battles and built a loyal following among colleagues and clients. Ali is also a veteran of the Firm, having been actively practicing with the Firm for over six years.  Throughout his tenure, Ali has acquired and developed a diverse portfolio of practice areas and clients.  Having a strong sense of responsibility and ethics, Ali is an effective communicator and representative of clients’ interests – as manifested by his professional record and client sentiment.

Representative Matters

Among many things, Ali leads the Firm’s litigation practice, working closely with local advocates in representing clients before the U.A.E. courts, judicial committees, prosecution, police, notaries and all government departments and agencies.  As the head of litigation, Ali prepares court pleadings, conducts legal research and analysis, attends hearings and expert meetings.

Relying on his thorough understanding of the law and Middle East culture, Ali is particularly effective in mediating disputes. Having grown up in Lebanon, Ali uses his knowledge of the Arabic culture, Muslim religion, and history of the region to educate and challenge his colleagues and clients.  This approach has proven to be invaluable as it allows clients, in particular, to manage their expectations and make decisions in line with their chances of success.

Ali also represents the Firm’s clients in transactional and corporate matters, in particular, in company formation and restructuring, working closely with the Departments of Economic Development, Ministries, Municipalities, Committees and free zones across the U.A.E.

Over his many years with the Firm, Ali has successfully represented clients across a broad spectrum of matters, ranging from real estate, employment, company formation, contract disputes and other commercial cases.

Professional Style

Ali is keenly intelligent and inquisitive, with a strong conviction of right and wrong. He embraces challenges as opportunities to further develop and evolve. No task is too small and no task is too big. He is driven by the fierce and sincere desire to learn and understand, painstakingly working through the issue until he is satisfied. This regularly generates much discourse and debate in the Firm, during which individual convictions are challenged and shifted. Such dialogue in the Firm is especially valuable given the region’s constantly shifting and evolving legal practice and diverse demographic.

Ali is proactive and independent, always in action and goal oriented. Marked with a strong will power, he is determined and persistent, exhausting all (legitimate) avenues to achieve results. He is structured and organized in his research and analysis, as well as his dealings with clients, government, and legal authorities and colleagues. While confident, he is also realistic and practical, at all times focused on results and clients’ best interest.

Ali is always professional and courteous, patient and cognizant. He is fiercely loyal and trustworthy.

Personal Interests

Ali is a native Arabic speaker, with full fluency in English.  Ali is also conversant in French and has some background in Russian.

Similar to the rest of the team, Ali has a variety of interests. Full of energy and drive, he enjoys traveling, learning about history and politics, and engaging in extreme mechanical sports.
