Hanan is a highly talented legal professional, effortlessly navigating legal matters in Arabic and English and applying the right degree of cultural sensitivities.  She has an extensive and diverse measure of experience, earned and developed through hands-on practice and multitude of matters.

Hanan’s unparalleled passion for the legal profession, intellectual rigour and zest for learning have propelled her and continue to drive her through the ranks, to ever greater heights.  Hanan enjoys admirable rapport with the clients and the team, to a large extent, because of her positive, genuine, happy and all-can-do attitude.

Hanan began her legal career as the Firm’s legal intern, while still at university.  She graduated from the American University of Sharjah (AUS), at the top of her class.  While at AUS, she was actively involved in extra-curriculum activities, participating in Moot Court International Criminal Court competition and at different levels of the Model United Nations, exploring her creative genius as a film editor and volunteering for various charitable causes.

Representative Matters

During her time with the Firm, Hanan has developed rich and diverse experience representing clients’ interests, across many practice areas.

Dispute Resolution

Hanan is particularly well versed in dispute resolution, through all forms of judicial venues.  She assist clients with representing their matters before local courts, throughout the U.A.E., the Rental Dispute Center (RDC), as well as the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC) court.

She also helps resolve clients’ matters through alternative dispute resolution, either through arbitration before, among other things, the Dubai International Arbitration Center (DIAC), mediation or amicable settlement negotiations.

Government Liaison

As a native Arabic speaker, Hanan is the Firm’s liaison with government authorities, with in-depth understanding and experience of the region.  In this capacity, she assist clients in managing their relationships with various government and semi-government authorities.  This includes, among other things, U.A.E. Central Bank, U.A.E. Tax Authority (FTA), Legal Affairs Department (LAD), Department of Economic Development (DED), Dubai Land Department (DLD), municipalities, police, prosecution, immigration authority, free zone authorities, Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), insurance authorities and all other.

Family Law

Hanan is particularly interested in family matters.  She assists clients with inheritance, marriages, divorces, custody and guardianship issues.  During her time with the Firm, she has successfully managed a number of such sensitive issues for the Firm’s clients, with many compliments from the clients.

Hanan has also successfully completed the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC) Wills & Probate Program course and, as such, is qualified to assist as the DIFC wills draftsman.

Criminal Law

Hanan finds criminal law especially intellectually interesting.  She enjoys learning various aspects of criminal law and attending criminal hearings.  To that end, she has represented and assisted numerous clients before police, prosecution and criminal court, in many cases, resulting in successful settlements.


Hanan has developed particular interest in the U.A.E.’s new Value Added Tax (VAT) laws and their application on local businesses.  She works closely with the U.A.E. Federal Tax Authority (FTA), accountants and auditors.  She relies on this knowledge and experience to assist clients with their VAT structuring and management of their businesses and interests in the U.A.E.

Corporate Matters

Hanan enjoys corporate and commercial law, with particular interest in highly complex corporate structures.  She has assisted clients with devising corporate strategies and setting up corporate structures across diverse jurisdictions.  In the U.A.E., she works closely with free zone and DED authorities.

Hanan also relies on her experience with court judgments and precedents, to give clients practical guidance in their contract drafting and negotiations.


Hanan has substantial experience in employment and human resources matters.  She has assisted clients in litigating and resolving their employment disputes through the U.A.E. labour courts, DIFC courts and mediation centers.  Relying on her first-hand experience and knowledge on practical application of employment law, she has aptly and successfully represented clients in many dispute resolutions.

Real Estate

Hanan is well versed in U.A.E.’s real estate law, having directly managed a number of real estate matters, both from commercial and litigation perspectives.  Among other things, she has assisted clients in presenting their cases before RDC, as well as before courts of full jurisdiction.

Hanan is a rare soul.  She has the right combination of all important skills and talents.  Wise and experienced, beyond her years.  A highly talented professional, with passion for the practice of law and clients’ satisfaction.  She is keenly intelligent, articulate, effective and sincere – attributes and attitude, which permeate through everything she does.  Detail-oriented, she is also creative and resilient.  She holds dearly values such as, loyalty, ethics and sense of justice and fairness.  With all that, Hanan also has a delightful energy and strong team-spirit.

Personal Interests

Hanan is of Syrian origin, having grown up in Kuwait and having studied at international schools.  She speaks Arabic and English with equal fluency.

Hanan comes from a family of lawyers; her father and late grandfather practiced law in Kuwait and Syria since the 1950s.  Hanan vividly remembers her childhood memories of being in her father’s law firm from the age of six.

Born to a mother who is an Arabic teacher, Hanan is passionate about the Arabic language and is eagerly helping the rest of the non-Arabic speaking team to learn Arabic.

Hanan combines her passion for law and the Arabic language in her practice and communication.

Hanan is an avid reader and keen world traveler.  She loves her two cats, arts and technology.

Special Projects

Hanan initiated and masterminded the launch of Lawgical with LYLAW – MENA region’s first and only legal podcast.  From the beginning and throughout, Hanan has worked tirelessly to bring this project to life and ensure its continuous success.
